The Lost Generation is a two-channel video installation. One of the channels is a documentary dance film recorded in Cuba in 2009 and 2010 by Danis Napoles Cisneros and Rut Karin Zettergren. It follows a group of young Cuban Reggaeton dancer from the generation that grew up in the 90s during the so-called special period that occurred during Cuba's economic crisis that followed the Soviets disbanded after the Cold War. Reggaeton culture want filmmakers to give a picture of a young generation relative to the communist system .

The second video channel is an essayistic story based on the filmmaker's notes from her stay in Palma Soriano where the movie was filmed. It is a mix of a study of popular culture from a historical and political perspective, thoughts on visual anthropology, voyeurism and a self- reflective texts about the filmmaker's role, romanticizing of politics and travel.
